Get to know Kaibosh
Kaibosh is the Wellington Region's own food rescue organisation. They link the food industry with community groups that support people in need, ensuring that quality surplus food reaches those who are struggling, rather than being needlessly discarded.
Working in Wellington and the Hutt Valley with the help of a dedicated team of more than 200 volunteers, Kaibosh rescues and sorts food seven days a week. Each month they rescue around 25,000kg of quality surplus food, which provides the equivalent of 70,000 meals to those who need it most, as well as a 19,000kg reduction in carbon emissions.
Kaibosh is a charity and provides their service at no cost to food donors or community groups. By purchasing through the Food Collective you can help Kaibosh rescue and distribute food to people in need, benefiting our environment and community.
Get to know KiwiHarvest
It’s our belief that every New Zealander, especially our most vulnerable children and families, should have access to fresh, nutritious food. In March 2012, KiwiHarvest began delivering goodness to New Zealand charities. Our refrigerated trucks are on the road collecting and delivering food to over 215 charities nationally. Additionally, we have the ability to receive pallets of donated food at our Auckland, Hawke's Bay and Dunedin warehouses and facilitate its distribution throughout New Zealand from Northland to Invercargill.
Our work is already changing the fact that 103,000 tonnes of food is thrown away by New Zealand industry every year.
KiwiHarvest is here to create lasting positive change so that good food does not go to waste. Moreover, those that need nourishment will receive it. Our food rescue organisation is based on overseas best practice combined with years of hands-on experience and solid governance. We are resourceful, efficient and always seeking to improve.
What does KiwiHarvest and Kaibosh collect?
Help provide much needed food relief to millions of hungry New Zealanders by helping KiwiHarvest and Kaibosh to rescue quality excess food (still fit to consume) that would otherwise go straight to landfill.
